Complex Cases Test Judge's Mettle

In a recent case a number of women went to court to claim damages from drug companies for injuries (mainly thromboses and similar vascular disorders) allegedly suffered as a result of using so called 'third generation' oral contraceptives. Their claim failed. The decision was heavily influenced by complex statistical evidence. The presiding judge was apparently very impressed with the evidence given by one of the ten expert witnesses heard, who used a statistical technique called the 'Cox regression test'.

Far too often, the success of complex cases of this type turns on the ability of the expert witnesses to present their scientific evidence in a clear way and to be easily understood by non-scientists.

We have the experience to choose expert witnesses not only on the basis of their qualifications and experience but also for their communication skills.
