Road Traffic Accident
Lawrence Hamblin represented Mr G of Reading was involved in a head on collision when driving a 7.5t lorry whilst at work. He sustained injuries to his neck and shoulder and psychological problems which affected his ability to drive HGVs. He had a short period of time off work before finding a suitable alternative driving job. A global settlement of £10,000 compensation for his physical and psychological injuries and the loss of earnings he suffered was agreed.
Accident at Work
Mrs J of Berkshire tripped over a toy that was used as a barrier at a nursery where she worked and sustained a muscular injury to her shoulder. Although she had a short period of time away from work she continued to receive full pay. She instructed Lawrence Hamblin to make a claim in respect of her injuries which caused her problems for around 18 months. Mrs J’s claim was settled by the insurers for £3500.
Slip/Trip
Mrs G from Oxfordshire slipped on a grape in a well known supermarket and sustained a back injury which resulted in time off from work. She instructed Lawrence Hamblin and received total compensation in excess of £32,000 for her injuries and loss of earnings.
Medical Negligence
Mrs S of Manchester suffered fractures to her leg when she fell at home. She underwent surgery on a number of occasions and was eventually discharged from the NHS hospital but continued to suffer pain. She then had private surgery which relieved some of her pain and led her to question the treatment she received on the NHS. She instructed Lawrence Hamblin to investigate the treatment she had received and eventually made a claim against the NHS Hospital Trust where she was originally treated. Less than 2 weeks before her case was to be heard in Court, she agreed to an out of Court settlement of £40,000.00.
Road Traffic Accident/Medical Negligence
Miss E of Kent sustained an injury to her back when her car was hit in the rear by another vehicle whilst she was stationery at a set of traffic lights. She instructed Lawrence Hamblin to make a claim in respect of her injuries and lost earnings. During the investigation of the claim it became apparent that she had received negligent treatment from a Consultant for the injuries she suffered in the accident which also affected her ability to work. A claim was also brought against the Consultant and eventually she received an agreed sum of £100,000.00 in respect of both claims.
Asbestos
Mr M of Berkshire contracted mesothelioma, a cancer caused by his exposure to asbestos at work at a major car manufacturer over 30 years previously, and unfortunately within 2 years of the diagnosis he died. His widow instructed Lawrence Hamblin solicitors who negotiated a settlement in excess of £140,000.00 on her behalf.
